Sedgwick Kelly becomes Sedgwick Kelly LLP on 1 May 2006

As from 1 May 2006 our firm of Sedgwick Kelly has become the Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) of Sedgwick Kelly LLP. This does not involve any change of premises or personnel.

LLPs are now a well-established way of running a solicitors’ practice, and this is encouraged by the Law Society: instead of the business being owned by the equity partners, the LLP itself owns the business (as a separate legal entity) and the partners are members with interests in the LLP.  In other words, it is more like the way in which a limited company is organised and run.

We believe that this will provide a more flexible basis for running and growing the practice, and better enable us to meet the needs of our clients, as we move forward with the changes proposed by the government for the way in which legal practices are organised and operate following the government’s review of legal services.

If you have any questions about this, please ask Richard Bubbers (richardbubbers@sedgwickkelly.co.uk ) or the person who usually deals with your matters.

21/11/05 - Civil Partnerships - The Civil Partnership Act came into force on 5th December 2005.
